Where are my Favorites stored?
I use Apple’s iCloud for Windows and have Safari on my iPhone 12, which is up to date with the latest iOS version. On my Windows 11 PC, I use Mozilla Firefox. My Favorites are visible on my iPhone, within iCloud for Windows, and in Firefox. However, they aren’t syncing to my desktop computer. There’s a ‘Favorites’ folder located at This PC > Windows (C:) > Users > MyName on my PC, where I expected all my iPhone Favorites to sync through iCloud, but this isn’t happening. Despite trying all solutions available online, I can’t seem to sync them to the ‘Favorites’ folder on my PC.
What steps should I take to resolve this issue?
Where should my Favorites be directed to?
Hi Barbra, thanks for reaching out.
The utility of the favorites directory may be compromised due to the obsolescence of Internet Explorer, as Windows has transitioned to the Edge browser. Consequently, synchronization capabilities across different browsers may be unavailable.
A workaround involves the manual extraction of favorites from a mobile browser, followed by the transfer of the resultant file to a desktop environment. Subsequently, the Edge browser’s import functionality can be utilized to integrate the favorites.
Post-import, the favorites from the mobile browser should be accessible within Edge. It is important to note that for Firefox users, synchronization of favorites is typically contingent upon the use of a Firefox account rather than iCloud.
For intricate details, consultation with Firefox’s development team is advisable. Historically, favorites directories were exclusive to Internet Explorer and are not conventionally used by contemporary browsers, which prefer to store such data within proprietary data directories.
