Sharing Previous Conversations with a New Chat Participant After including a new member in our chat, I realized I hadn’t selected the option to share previous chat history. Is there a way to retroactively provide access to the chat history for this newly added member?
Hi Julia, thanks for reaching out.
In Microsoft Teams, the functionality to grant retrospective access to chat history for a participant added without enabling the ‘view chat history’ feature is absent. This feature is only accessible during the initial inclusion of a participant in a chat.
Nonetheless, the following workarounds may be employed:
- Conversation Digest: Provide a concise synopsis of the pivotal discussions or resolutions that transpired prior to the addition of the new participant. This will furnish them with the necessary backdrop to grasp the current discourse.
- Direct Sharing of Assets: Should there be any pivotal documents or hyperlinks exchanged in the chat, these can be redistributed to the new member via Teams chat, electronic mail, or another fitting medium.
These methods, albeit not perfect, can facilitate the new member’s acclimation and active participation in the chat.
