Set a different recordings folder for a series of calendar events
Hi. We have recurring online meetings in MS Teams and the recordings are saved into the organizer’s personal “Recordings” folder. We need them to be saved to the team folder of the team the organizer belongs to so access can be managed. Actually, we want to create a separate default subfolder for each calendar series. I couldn’t find a way to do that. Currently we have to move the recordings manually when they’re ready.
In the Teams app a chat is created for the event series and there’s the Download button on its “Files” tab, but the button does not work unless somebody shared the file manually.
Hi Jack, thanks for reaching out.
I understand your situation. Unfortunately, Microsoft Teams does not provide an option to automatically save meeting recordings to a different folder or to change the default location for a series of calendar events.
Here’s how it works:
For non-Channel meetings, the recording is stored in a folder named “Recordings” that’s at the top level of the OneDrive that belongs to the person who started the meeting recording.
For Channel meetings, the recording is stored in the Teams site documentation library in a folder named “Recordings”.
All meeting invitees, except for external users, will automatically get a personally shared link. External users will need to be explicitly added to the shared list by the meeting organizer or the person who started the meeting recording.
As a workaround, you can manually move the recordings to the desired location after they are created.
Go to Teams, locate the recording, click the three dots next to it, and select Move to.
Navigate to the location and click Move here.
