On my Mac, I can no longer insert photos from the clipboard into a Teams chat.
When I right-click and copy a picture from my browser, it appears as a big blank space instead of the image in the Teams chat box. Nothing happens at all when I copy and paste a screen capture to the clipboard. The image may be pasted into an Outlook email message, but not in Teams.
I can paste in the Teams online version, thus it appears that this problem is exclusive to the Mac desktop client.
Hi Noah, thanks for reaching out.
Here’s a paraphrased version of the provided text:
To address the issue, consider the following steps:
Verify Internet Connectivity
Clear the Cache:
- Close the Teams application on your desktop.
- Delete the Teams cache by going to
%AppData%\Microsoft\Teams\Cache
. - Open Teams again to see if the images are now visible.
This solution was mentioned here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams/image-not-visible-in-chat/m-p/1308574
Update the Teams Application:
- Confirm that you have the most recent Teams version by looking for updates and applying any patches found.
Turn Off GPU Hardware Acceleration:
- Access Settings by clicking your profile icon in Teams.
- Within the General section, deselect “Disable GPU hardware acceleration” (note that Teams must be restarted).
- Restart Teams to determine if the problem has been resolved.

Caution: Although the site seems to offer valid and secure information, be wary of ads that might promote products often categorized as potentially unwanted (PUP). Always conduct thorough research before downloading and installing any advertised products.
Experiment with Different Image File Types:
- When using Snagit to take screenshots, try saving them in alternate formats like PNG or JPG.
- Navigate to the Share menu in Snagit, then opt for Save As Preferences.
- Set the preference to consistently use a specific file format, choosing PNG (or JPG if PNG is unsuccessful).
- After making the change, try inserting the images into Teams once more.
