How the Migration Works

A structured approach from discovery to post-migration support. Here is what to expect when you work with us.

Phase 1

Discovery and Assessment

We map out your source tenant including mailbox sizes, workloads in use, compliance holds, custom domains, and any special configurations. This gives us a clear picture of what needs to move.

Phase 2

Target Tenant Setup

We prepare the destination tenant by creating user accounts, configuring domains, setting up Entra ID, and establishing the cross-tenant trust relationship needed for migration.

Phase 3

Identity Mapping and Validation

Every user in the source is mapped to their corresponding account in the target. We run a full validation pass to catch any issues such as missing licenses, compliance blocks, or mismatched UPNs before anything moves.

Phase 4

Pre-Stage Sync

Mailbox data starts syncing in the background. Users continue working on the source tenant without interruption. This dramatically reduces the cutover window.

Phase 5

Cutover and Final Sync

We schedule the cutover during off-hours. The final delta sync runs, DNS records switch, and users start working on the new tenant. Typical downtime is under 1 hour per batch.

Phase 6

Post-Migration Verification

We verify every mailbox, every file, and every chat. Users confirm access on the new tenant. We handle any edge cases and provide a migration report with a full audit trail.

Why MStack360

We have done this before, many times. Here is what you get when you work with us on your migration.

End-to-End Ownership

We do not hand off. From discovery to post-migration support, one team handles the entire project with no gaps.

Minimal Downtime

Pre-stage syncing means most of the data moves before cutover. Your users keep working until the very last step.

Zero Data Loss

Every mailbox, file, and chat is verified after migration. We run a full audit and share the report with you.

Transparent Pricing

You know the cost before we start. License fees, consulting hours, all laid out clearly with no surprises.

Microsoft 365 Specialists

We work exclusively with Microsoft 365 including Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and Entra ID. This is our core strength.

EST and EU Coverage

We work across Eastern Standard and European time zones, so your migration happens when it is most convenient for your team.

Most IT firms treat migration as "just moving mailboxes." At MStack360, we migrate your entire environment including Intune policies, Power Platform apps and flows, Teams Phone configurations, and SharePoint structures. You get a fully working tenant on the other side, not just email.

Frequently Asked

Straightforward answers to the questions we hear most about tenant-to-tenant migrations.

It depends on the number of users and the amount of data. A small environment with under 50 users can usually be completed within one to two weeks. Larger enterprises with hundreds or thousands of mailboxes typically take three to six weeks. The pre-stage sync runs in the background, so most of the time your users are not affected at all.
With pre-stage syncing (available in both Orchestrator and MigrationWiz), most data is transferred before the actual cutover. During the final switchover, users may experience a brief period where they need to sign in again on the new tenant. This window is typically under one hour per batch.
Microsoft Orchestrator currently migrates personal user data such as mailboxes, OneDrive, and Teams chats, but it does not migrate shared resources like Teams channels or SharePoint team sites. BitTitan MigrationWiz supports SharePoint site migrations as a separate workload. For Teams channels, a combination of tools and manual planning may be needed depending on your environment.
For PST, no migration-specific licenses are required. For Microsoft Orchestrator, both tenants need Microsoft 365 E3 or E5, plus a Cross-Tenant User Data Migration add-on license per user. For BitTitan MigrationWiz, you purchase a per-user license (starting around $12 per user for the User Migration Bundle). We help you determine the most cost-effective licensing approach during the assessment phase.
Mailboxes under any type of legal or compliance hold (such as eDiscovery holds) cannot be migrated until those holds are released. During the discovery phase, we identify all held mailboxes and work with your legal and compliance teams to determine the best way forward before the migration begins.
Yes. Domain cutover is a critical part of every migration project. We coordinate the removal of the domain from the source tenant, the DNS record updates, and the re-verification of the domain on the target tenant. We schedule this carefully to minimize the impact on mail flow.
MigrationWiz supports the widest range of workloads including mailboxes, documents, archives, public folders, and SharePoint sites in a single platform. It offers pre-stage syncing for near-zero downtime cutovers, works at any scale, and does not require specific Microsoft license tiers. That said, if you are already on E3/E5 and only need to move mailboxes, OneDrive, and Teams, the Microsoft Orchestrator is also a solid choice. We always recommend the option that fits your specific situation.
